Handmade with love in Peru ♥

These are very special hand-made shamanic rattle/shaker instrument, made by our artisan friends in Peru's Sacred Valley outside of Cusco. These traditional rattles are a key element in Andean shamanic work and plant medicine ceremonies. These lovely handmade instruments feature a leather casing that is filled with seeds (my guess is Huayruro or Choloque) and/or small ceramic beads, which is then hand-stitched together. They also feature a small "handle" of Lemurian Quartz. They are exquisite, rustic and have a very gentle and pleasing tone.

In Andean Culture, the Chakana symbolizes the dynamic between the universe and the life it contains. The Chakana, often referred to as the Andean Cross or Inca Cross, is a powerful and central symbol in Andean cosmology. Its origins can be traced back to ancient Andean cultures, predating the Inca Empire. Over time, it has evolved to encompass a broad range of meanings and interpretations.

At its core, the Chakana represents the Andean understanding of the cosmos. Its stepped cross design is believed to signify the three tiers of the world: the upper world (Hanan Pacha), the world of the living (Kay Pacha), and the underworld (Uku Pacha).

Each rattle is similar in size and tone, and each is made with the same materials and basic adornments. As it is a natural leather casing, some are more white and some are a bit more natural, or mixed in color.

The tone of each of these is mid-range and gentle, ideal for musical accompaniment, singing, prying and more.
